An Accra Circuit Court presided over by His Honour, Mr. Aboagye Tandoh, has remanded Prince Adu- Gyamfi, an unemployed man, on the counts of unlawful entry, causing harm and attempt to commit crime.

The Accused person pleaded ‘not guilty’ to all the counts.

In reading the facts of the case, the Prosecutor, Superintendent Patience Mario, said the Complainants, Sandra Nana Aba Nunoo and Eunice Osei are students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), and the Institute of Languages respectively. The Complainants reside at Goodwill Hostel, a three-storey hostel facility at UPSA, whilst the Accused person, who is unemployed, stays at Madina Zongo.

According to the Prosecutor, on 31st January, 2018 at about 2:15 pm, the Accused person went to the above mentioned hostel and climbed up to the second floor of the building where the Complainants stay and attacked them with a knife, with the aim of dispossessing Sandra of her Infinix Hot 4 mobile phone she was using, worth GH¢ 450.

The Prosecutor narrated that on the above-mentioned date and time when Sandra was standing by her door receiving a phone call, the Accused person attacked her with a knife ostensibly to take her phone away. Superintendent Patience Mario explained that in the process the Accused inflicted knife wounds on the Sandra Nunoo’s face and neck.

She further added that Sandra started shouting and calling for help.  Eunice Osei who stays next door and had heard Sandra’s shout for help, came out from her room and saw the Accused person running away. According to the Prosecutor, Eunice tried to stop the Accused person from escaping but he stabbed her on her left shoulder causing deep cuts, and descended the stairs to escape.

Superintendent Mario said that the Accused was however arrested by witnesses and charged with the offences after investigation.

The case has been adjourned to 20th February, 2018.
