Uganda People’s Congress’s Dan Odiya Charged With Treason

Dan Oola Odiya, the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party National Deputy Mobilizer in Dr Olara Otunu’s faction and two other suspects have been charged with treason and remanded to prison.

Mr Odiya also the UPC Spokesperson for Acholi Sub-region was arrested last week by police on allegations of masterminding the attacks on Opit LDU detach in Lakwana Subcounty Gulu district that left two people dead while eight guns seized.

Mr Odiya had recorded two extra judiciary statements in court by Monday.

Two other suspects Keneth Otto and Sam Oboma who appeared today along with

Odiya before Gulu Grade One Magistrate Paul Owino were arrested in connection to Sunday evening attack at Gulu central police.

The suspects were secretly charged in the absence of their lawyers with five counts including treason, one count of concealment of treason, two counts of murder by shooting and one count of attempted murder before they were remanded to Gulu central Prison.

Magistrate Owino remanded Mr Odiya and two other suspects until June 29 when they will be returned to court for mentioning of their case.
