An Accra High Court presided over by His Lordship, Justice Clemence Honyenuga, has oredred the Attorney GeneralĀ to make all relevant documents in the possession of the Economic and Organized Crime Office and other state agencies, available to Dr. Stephen Opuni and Mr Seidu Agongo to enable them put up their defense in the case in which they have been accused of causing financial loss to the state.
This was after Counsel forĀ Dr Opuni, Samuel Cudjoe, said letters written by Dr. Opuni to the Public Procurements Authority to sole source contracts for all fertilizers, all certificates issued by Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana in relation to the fertilizer in contention, all contract documents for supply of fertilizers since 2008, and all reports on use of fertilizer issued by the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) which they saw at EOCO, had not been given to them.
The Director of Public Prosecution, Yvonne Attakora Obuobisa justified the failure of the Attorney General to hand over some documents saying that they were not in the possession of the Attorney General.
The order of the Court was to ensureĀ that an earlier order at the last adjournment that the Attorney General provide the former CEO of COCOBOD and Mr. Seidu Agongo with all relevant documents in their possession which they may or may not use in the course of the trial, was adhered to.
