The Government of Ghana is set to take steps to dissolve the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
This was in a press statement released by the Ministry of Information and signed by Dr. Mustapha Abdul- Hamid, the Minister of Information.
According to the statement, the Government is shocked and outraged at the contents of the recently aired documentary by Anas Aremeyaw Anas which exposed corruption, fraud and bribery of the Association.
The Government has therefore referred the conduct of all officials who were captured in questionable and potential criminal acts in the documentary, including the suspended Acting Director General of the National Sports Authority, to the Police for further investigations and appropriate action.
Government has also decided to take immediate steps to have the GFA dissolved and will shortly after announce provisional measures to govern football activity in the country until a new body is duly formed.
According to the statement, Government will communicate their decision to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), and engage with them to chart a way forward for Ghana football.
