In the recent controversial issue of double salary by Members of Parliament, Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu in an attempt to set the record straight on the raging issue of “double salary payment, said that he was under-paid.
According to the Tamale South legislator, “the very government that said I took double salary, there is absolute evidence that I was under paid”
Expressing his sentiment on the issue, he told the Parliamentary Press Corp that he can give evidence of that and the problem was because of a system failure.
In his statement, the MP indicated that “Since the issue is under investigation, I would leave it at that. I was never paid what we call rent allowance. I could not have known since the two systems were not speaking to each other. I can put on authority that I did not take double salary. It is an employer and employee issue; we would deal with it. I do not want to prejudice the issue since it is with the Police”
He further said his colleague MP from Ketu South, Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Franklin Kwetey suffered a similar fate and added that, the Police should be allowed to finish their investigation.
