Deputy Special Prosecutor nominee, Jane Cynthia Naa Koshie Lamptey, appearing before the Appointments Committee at the Parliament House says the institution of the Special Prosecutor’s Law and its office will efficiently handle corruption cases expeditiously without any interference or delay as it is the challenge in the judicial system.
She said since the new office is solely meant to handle corruption cases and related matters, its officials will be focused and will easily deal with challenges in the judicial process without having to juggle this duty with unrelated things.
On the issue of conflict of interest, Madam Naa Koshie Lamptey said persons in public office must exercise the moral integrity to avoid the temptation of employing people they are related to or have direct influence over.
She said she will never employ any relative or acquaintance.
The Deputy Special Prosecutor nominee said if given the nod, she is prepared to work assiduously and in humility with the Special Prosecutor. She further explained that she will resign if she is found in any situation of conflict of interest
