The Amasaman Police Division Command has charged a man suspected to be a land guard with robbery. The accused, Abraham Adjiri Allotey Quaye has been charged with three counts of offences including conspiracy to rob, robbery and causing harm.
The accused was assisted by three accomplices who are yet to be arrested by the police.
The prosecuting officer, Victor Dosoo at the Accra Circuit Court presided over by His Honour, Mr. Aboagye Tandoh stated that the accused is unemployed and stays at Yahuma near Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region.
In October 2017, the complainant, Daniel Kugbesika was engaged by one Nii Sackey Akrasi to grade his site at Otuplem Yahuma. Whilst he was working on the land the Accused person and his accomplices attacked the Complainant with a locally manufactured pistol, cutlasses and other offensive weapons, beat him up and robbed him of his Samsung Galaxy mobile phone valued GH₵800.00 and cash amount of GH₵3,000. The complainant was rushed to Adjen Kotoku Community Clinic by some good Samaritans and was later referred to Amasaman Government Hospital where he was treated and discharged. A report was made to the Police and on 25th April 2018. The accused was later arrested. During interrogation, he admitted the offences in his caution statement. He was subsequently charged with the offences and arraigned before court.
The Counsel for the accused prayed for bail and explained that the accused has a family and will also not interfere with the trial if granted bail. The court declined the bail application and remanded the accused in police custody. The case was adjourned to 21st May, 2018.
