Moses Sarpong, a 56-year old security man has been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court, for indecently assaulting a 3 year old girl.
According to the Prosecutor, ASP Agnes Boafo, the Complainant is the mother of the victim and lives at Mankrase with the victim.
The Prosecutor explained that the Accused person, lives in the same vicinity with the victim and her mother.
ASP Boafo narrated that on 8th January, 2017 at about 7:30pm, the Complainant, victim and Accused person were watching television at a drinking bar when the Accused person called the victim and put her on his lap.
According to the Prosecutor, the Accused person told the mother of the victim that he was going with the victim to buy champagne, to celebrate his belated birthday, to which the Complaint gave her permission.
“The Complainant took the victim to his house, inserted his finger into her vagina, and brought the victim to her mother”, ASP Boafo said.
The Prosecutor added that when the Complainant and the victim were going home, the victim complained of pains in her vagina. When the Complainant interrogated her on it, she said the Accused person inserted his finger into her vagina.
A complaint was made at the Dansoman Police Station, and the Accused was arrested.
A police medical form was issued to the Complainant to take the victim to the hospital for examination.
The presiding judge, Her Honour Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku admitted the Accused to bail in the sum of GH¢10,000 with 2 sureties.
The case has been adjourned to 1st February, 2018.
