An Accra District Court presided over by His Worship Ebenezer Kwaku Ansah, has committed 14 persons alleged to have murdered the late Major Maxwell Adams Mahama, to stand trial at the High Court on the charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
This was after the Chief State Attorney, Evelyn Keelson provided the Bill of Indictment and Summary of Evidences to the court.
The 14 suspects are William Baah, Kofi Nyame, Akwasi Baah, Bernard Asamoah, Kwame Tuffuour, Akwasi Asante, Emmanuel Badu, Kwadwo Animah, Joseph Appiah Kubi, Michael Anim, Bismark Donkor, John Boasi, Charles Kwanin and Bismark Abanga.
In summarizing the evidences, the State Attorney said that the autopsy report from the pathologist who conducted the post mortem, Dr. Lawrence Edusei, indicated that the deceased sustained gun shot wounds, multiple head injuries due to attack with blunt objects and had part of his body burnt.
According to the State Attorney, the prosecution would rely on 15 witnesses and 52 exhibits to defend their case.
Counsel for the Accused persons, George Bernard Shaw, said that the Defense was also going to rely on a couple of witnesses including the Diaso Police.
The Prosecution submitted, forensic and post mortem reports, video recordings, photographs, a stick, metal bars, an iPhone, a stone, cement block, statements by the Accused persons and other exhibits to the Court.
The case was adjourned to 15th February, 2018 for trial to commence at the High Court.
