The Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr. Alan Kyeremanteng says two investors have expressed interest in establishing two factories in the Kumbungu District, under the government’s ‘One District, One Factory’ initiative.
The factories are an Organic Fertilizer manufacturing plant, and a Sugar Plantation and Processing company.
This was revealed on the floor of Parliament when the Minister was responding to a question asked by the Member of Parliament for the Kumbungu constituency, Hon. Ras Mubarak. The MP asked him what plans were in place to ensure that the people of Kumbungu District benefit from the ‘One District, One Factory’ project to be embarked upon by the government.
Mr. Kyeremanteng said the Ministry has so far received four hundred and seventy three business proposals including business plans and expression of interests.
He added that the Ministry’s team of consultants has completed technical, financial and commercial viability analyses of four hundred and sixty two of the proposals received out of which one hundred and ninety one covering one hundred and two districts have been selected for implementation.
The Minister also stated that the Ministry is in the process of forming District Implementation Support Teams for the programme in each district who will be responsible for the oversight co-ordination and monitoring of each District Enterprise project.
