Mr. Danse Sam, the Director of Corporate Affairs for the Savannah Acceleration Development Association (SADA) has expressed worry about the omission of a dedicated financing mechanism and stakeholders’ committee from the ACT establishing it. According to the Director, without a permanent financing system, the Agency cannot be sustained.

Mr. Danse expressed these views during the 10th Anniversary celebration of the Centre for Migration Studies, University of Ghana, under the theme, Migration, Security and Development.

The other key thing he touched on was the stakeholders committee which includes civil societies, chiefs of the various SADA zones and prominent board members, who are supposed to vet plans, approve and provide guidance for the institution. This aspect which was originally to be part of the   ACT, according to him, was also omitted.

This provision will create the platform for accountability on the part of authorities and the room for participation and engagement for the people, hence, the need for SADA to draft a memorandum which is currently before parliament for consideration and it is his prayer the Memo is given due attention.

After an elaborate discussion on the north to south migration trend in Ghana, it was suggested that key areas of the three Northern regions should be developed to reabsorb and sustain its migrating populace, thereby decongesting the cities. On this, SADA presented a 400 page comprehensive action plan to bring this dream to fruition. SADA expressed satisfaction about the European Union’s support and are asking private investors to involve themselves.
