The Ministry of Education says plans are underway to inaugurate all 43 Councils for Colleges of Education by the end of November, 2017.
This was revealed on the floor of Parliament, when the Deputy Minister for Education, Hon. Barbara Asher Ayisi, was responding to a question asked by the Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Hon. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor. He asked her when a new Board of Governors would be inaugurated for the Government Training College in Peki, as the old board has been dissolved since January this year.
The Deputy Minister said pursuant to the Presidential (Transition) Act, Act 2012 (Act 845), all Governing Councils and Boards under the purview of the Ministry were dissolved to be reconstituted.
She explained that administrative processes for the reconstitution of the Councils for the 43 Colleges of Education (CoEs) are currently ongoing. She added that the Ministry is in receipt of about 85% of the curriculum vitae of proposed members for the institutional representatives of the various Councils of the CoEs from the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE).
The Deputy Minister also indicated that the Ministry has submitted recommended members to the appointing authority for further action. She intimated that the Ministry has planned that Councils of all 43 CoEs will be inaugurated by the end of November this year.
