DJ arraigned before court for possessing narcotics

Ramsey Mensah Nmai, alias DJ Wasty has been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court for possessing boiled and dried leaves, suspected to be narcotic drugs, without authority.

The Accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The Complainants in the case are police officers stationed at the Abokobi – Ayi Mensah District Headquarters.

The Accused, aged 33 years is a Disc Jockey (DJ). On 5th October, 2017, the Abokobi- Ayi Mensah District Police Command gathered intelligence that the Accused was dealing in narcotic drugs at Oyarifa, a suburb of Accra.

Upon such information, a team of police officers led by Superintendent George Osman Karim Atia, went to the accused’s kiosk behind a mosque and conducted a swoop.

The Accused was arrested with quantities of boiled and dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drugs.

All the patrons of the ghetto managed to escape upon seeing the police.

The accused resurfaced and claimed ownership of the boiled and dried leaves retrieved from the kiosk including an LA mobile phone.

While in custody, the Accused issued a threat that he will deal with anyone who had a hand in his arrest after his release from lawful custody.

The case has been adjourned to the 24th of October, 2017.
