The Hohoe Circuit Court has remanded Kennedy Yeboah alias “Konto”, a 21-year-old storekeeper into police custody for indecent assault, defilement of a female under 16 years and threat of death.
Kennedy pleaded not guilty to all the three counts and will reappear in court on July 25.
Presenting the facts of the case to the court presided over by Mr. Yaw Poku Achampong, Police Inspector George Doe said the complainant is a trader and mother of the victim, a 13-year-old class five pupil.
He said the accused person lives in the same community with the complainant and the victim at Hohoe Kitikpa.
The Prosecution said in May 2019 at about 1900 hours, the complainant sent the victim to buy bread from the accused person’s shop where he lured the victim into an uncompleted building at the back of his house and forcibly inserted his right little finger into her vagina.
He said the accused person threatened to kill the victim and the mother if she ever tell her mother what happened.
The Prosecution said three days later, the complainant sent the victim again to buy her soft drinks from the accused person’s shop and the accused again lured the victim to the same uncompleted building and now forcibly had sexual intercourse with her and again, threatened to kill her if she mentioned the ordeal.
He said weeks later, the victim was sick and upon persistent questioning by the complainant, she revealed what transpired between her and the accused.
The Prosecution said the complainant reported the matter to the Hohoe Divisional Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) and the accused was arrested and a police medical report form issued to the complainant to send the victim to hospital for examination.
He said on July 12, 2019, the complainant returned the medical report form duly endorsed by a medical officer at the Hohoe Municipal Hospital confirming sexual intercourse with the victim.
The prosecution said the accused person admitted he inserted his little finger into the vagina of the victim in May 2019 but denied the other offences when Police interrogated him.
