An Accra Circuit Court, presided by His Honour, Mr. Aboagye Tandoh, has remanded a man named Apedo Mawuli to police custody for alleged robbery of Techno mobile phone from a lady.
The accused person, Apedo Mawuli was arrested on 28th April, 2018 for threatening the complaint, Bridget Naatu to hand over her phone.
The facts are that on 28th April, 2018, at about 12:10 am, the complainant boarded a taxi from NIC to NIC/top at the Ablekuma area, and among the passengers was the accused.
The Accused and the Complainant alighting from the taxi simultaneously and the complainant, headed home. When she got to her house and was about to open her door, the accused suddenly appeared and ordered her at knife point to surrender her mobile phone, valued GH1,200. The complaint obliged and handed same to the accused. After the attack the accused started running away, but the complainant raised an alarm and some boys in her neighbourhood arrested the accused. He was handed over to the Anyaa police together with the stolen phone. The accused admitted the offence in his Investigation Caution Statement and after investigations, he was charged with the offence.
In his application for bail, the Counsel for the Accused stated, among others, that the Accused had no intention of robbing the lady, rather, he wanted to propose to her. He prayed the court for a bail with surety to be justified but the court refused the bail application, remanded the Accused into Police Custody, and adjourned the matter to 16th May, 2018.
