An Accra Circuit Court presided over by Her Honour, Abena Oppong Adjin- Doku, has remanded one Daniel Sackey, alias Addokwei , for abducting an unmarried female under the age of 18.
According to the Prosecutor, Chief Inspector J. B. Asante, who was holding the brief of ASP Agnes Boafo, the Complainant in this case is a trader residing at Ashiyie, near Dodowa, while the Accused person is a driver and estate agent who stays at Awudome Estate, a suburb of Accra.
The prosecutor added that the Victim is a Junior Secondary School pupil and lives with her mother who is the Complainant.
According to Chief Inspector Asante, in May 2017, the victim left home and spent more than a week with the Accused.
The Prosecutor added that the Complainant lodged a complaint at the Madina Police Station but it was not pursued because the victim returned home later.
The Prosecutor narrated that on 18th April, 2018, the Victim left home once again to an unknown place. The complainant became alarmed and started looking for her.
“A complaint was made and Accused was arrested on 24th April, 2018, while the victim was found hiding in his washroom”, Chief Inspector Asante said.
According to the Prosecutor, during interrogation, the victim told police that, the Accused had sexual intercourse with her during the entire period.
The Prosecutor added that a Police medical form was issued to the Complainant to take the Victim to the hospital for treatment and report thereafter.
According to the Prosecutor, the medical officer after examination confirmed that the victim had been sexually abused.
“In his caution statement, the Accused admitted the offence and was subsequently charged”, the Prosecutor said.
The case has been adjourned to 14th of May, 2018.
