Musician, Wisa also known as Eugene Ashie, has been found guilty of gross indecency by an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Her Honour, Abena Oppong Adjin- Doku.
The Accused person has been sentenced to pay a fine of 700 penalty units equivalent to GH₵8,400 or in default face 24 months imprisonment.
The judge took into consideration the fact that the Accused person, being a public figure, will have a lot of young people looking up to him. She also took into consideration the unremorseful behaviour of the Accused.
Before sentencing, counsel for the Accused person, Jerry Avenogbor prayed for mitigation.
Defence Counsel added that the Accused person was remorseful but the court held a contrary view.
The Prosecution also prayed the court to punish the Accused person to serve as a deterrent to others who would engage in such activities.
After sentencing, Counsel prayed the Court to defer payment of the fine for a week.
He explained that the Accused had only GH₵5000.00 and will need a week to come up with the additional GH₵3,400.00.
The judge gave the Accused the opportunity to choose between signing a bail bond for GH₵10,000.00 with one surety to be justified or serving the jail term for inability to pay the fine.
Counsel for the Accused prayed the court to vary the bail terms but the judge did not grant his plea.
At the time of leaving the court, the Accused person was spotted in handcuffs being taken to the Regional Police Command.
The musician has been in court since December 2015, for showing his penis publicly while performing on stage at the “December to Remember” concert organised by Citi FM, an Accra based private radio station.
