Enoch Otoo Lamprey, a 19- year old disc jockey (DJ), has been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court for defiling a 13-year old JHS pupil.
The victim was found to be pregnant after her mother ran a pregnancy test for her with a pregnancy test kit.
According to the Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbiro, the Complainant, Mercy Laryea, is the mother of the victim.
He explained that the victim lives with her grandmother at James Town and the Accused person lives at Lange Dzan We, Accra.
The Prosecutor said that in November, 2017, the Accused and the victim became friends, and the Accused in that same month, lured the Victim into his house and had sexual inter course with her on two occasions.
“After each act, the Accused warned the victim not to tell anyone, and she kept the ordeal to herself”, Chief Inspector Atimbiro said.
The Prosecutor added that the Victim became pregnant and her grandmother detected it, and informed the Complainant.
A complaint was lodged at the James Town Police Station and a police medical form was issued to the Complainant to send the victim to the hospital for examination. The form was returned duly endorsed.
Chief Inspector Atimbiro said that the case was transferred to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit, of the Ghana Police Service in Accra, and the Accused was arrested.
The Accused, Enoch Otoo Lamprey, pleaded not guilty to the offence of defilement.
The defense counsel pleaded for bail and stated that the Accused could not work in prison and fend for the pregnant victim at the same time.
The Accused was granted bail in the sum of GH¢70,000 with four sureties. He is to work and cater for the antenatal needs of the Victim.
