Splendid Samsidin (1st Accused), a music producer and Godson Elorm (2nd Accused), self-employed, have been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court on the counts of unlawful discharge of firearms and abetment of crime.

Both Accused persons pleaded not guilty to both counts.

According to the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Dosoo, the complainants in the case are police officers stationed at Alpha Swat Unit at the National Headquarters, Accra.

He explained that on the 5th of November, 2017, at about 1:30am, the Alpha Swat 2 patrol team was on patrol duties. On reaching a section of the road between Airport and Spintex, they spotted two white Hyundai Sonata saloon cars with registration numbers GE 3331-15 and GM 1306- 15.

Inspector Dosoo stated that the occupants 1st and 2nd Accused in the car with the registration number GE 3331- 15 were shooting randomly whilst driving and sped off with continuous shooting even when they were signaled by the patrol team to stop.

The prosecutor further explained that the police after a hot chase arrested the Accused persons at Chris Berry Pub at Baatsona.

A search was conducted on them and a Smith and Wesson pistol and seven rounds of live ammunition with one empty shell were found on them.

Inspector Dosoo stated that Police detected the 1st Accused had once been arrested on a similar shooting incident and was warned to desist from the act.

“During investigation , 1st and 2nd Accused could not furnish the Police with any tangible reason for their actions and were therefore charged with the offences”.

Counsel for the Accused persons pleaded with the court to grant them bail.

The Court presided over by Justice Aboagye Tandoh has decided to rule on the issue of bail at the next adjourned date, 16th November, 2017.
