An Accra Circuit Court presided over by His Honour, Mr. Aboagye Tandoh, has sentenced a 60- year old man, Daniel Tetteh Cudjoe, to 8 years in prison with hard labour, on two counts of defilement of two 8- year old girls.
The Accused was convicted after he pleaded guilty and further pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercy.
Brief Facts
The 1st Complainant, Vera Aryee is a teacher and mother of one of the victims (name withheld), aged 8 years. The 2nd Complainant, Agnes Lartey is a trader and mother to the other victim (name withheld), aged 8 years.
Both Complainants reside in the same vicinity at Korle-Gonno. The victims are class 2 pupils at Methodist School, Korle-Gonno and are friends.
The Accused, Daniel Tetteh Cudjoe alias Etekli, is a 60-year old mason resident at Korle-Gonno.
On the 9th of October, 2017, at about 9:30 am, the Accused lured the victims into his room at Korle-Gonno. He forced them to remove their panties and applied a cream into their vaginas for easy penetration, and had unprotected sex with them in turns.
Victims further stated that the Accused had started having sexual intercourse with them for the past year and had been giving them an amount of one Ghana cedi to share, after each sexual intercourse with them.
The victims confided their ordeal in their teacher, one Mr. Ashong. A complaint was made and Police medical report forms were issued to the victims to visit the hospital for treatment and a report.
Both victims’ endorsed medical report forms read ‘HYMEN BROKEN’. The Accused was arrested and in his caution statement to the police, he admitted the offence before an independent witness.
