Ghana’s Parliament has adjourned briefly, to reconvene on Tuesday, the 24th of January, 2017.
This is to afford Leadership and the Committee of Selection the opportunity to compose other Committees of the House for the effective conduct of parliamentary business.
The brief break will also afford the Appointments Committee ample time to conduct its public hearings and present reports on same for consideration, when the House reconvenes.
During the break, the Appointments Committee is expected to meet to consider Ministers-designate of His Excellency, Akufo-Addo, and subsequently submit reports on same to the House for consideration.
It is worth noting that an induction seminar will be organised for the Lawmakers. It is expected to take place at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), from Friday, the 27th of January, to Monday, the 31st of January, 2017.
The seminar is residential for all new Hon. Members of Parliament, and those who have not benefited from any induction programme. The said seminar is also envisaged to afford especially, new MPs the opportunity to be equipped with the necessary guidelines that will facilitate their work as Members of Parliament.
‘Rt. Hon. Speaker, Leadership would, as soon as practicable after this seminar, arrange another induction and orientation seminar for all Members of the 7th Parliament’, the majority leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, said this on the floor of the House.
